What Are Animal Types?
Animal type readings calculate one of 60 classifications from your birth date, then connect that result to one of 12 animal characters.
The animal names feel friendly, but the background is more structured than it looks. The system is related to the sexagenary cycle, Four Pillars, yin-yang, and the five phases. It turns complex timing and temperament ideas into character names that are easier to use in everyday conversation.
How the System Works
Hoshiyomi Chaya calculates a 60-type number from the date of birth and maps it to the 12 animal types. The 12 animals are the entrance, while the 60 classifications show more subtle shades inside each animal.
Why 60 Types Matter
The 12 animals are enough to understand the general mood, but two people with the same animal can still feel very different. One Wolf may be artisan-like, another more freedom-seeking, and another sharply observant. The 60 classifications fill in those differences.

Reading by Groups
Animal types become easier to understand when grouped by similar movement. Wolf, Pegasus, and Koala need their own rhythm. Fawn, Sheep, and Raccoon Dog need trust and context. Lion, Cheetah, Tiger, and Elephant respond to clear goals and responsibility. Black Panther and Monkey show talent through sense, reaction, and improvement.
Compatibility
Compatibility is not just good or bad. It is more useful to ask what makes the other person feel safe, how much freedom they need, how quickly they decide, and what kind of praise reaches them. A Cheetah and a Koala may simply need different planning speeds. A Wolf and a Sheep may need different amounts of contact.
How to Use It
Animal readings are good for understanding differences lightly. They should not be used to trap people in categories. Use them as hints for word choice, timing, and distance, so communication becomes a little gentler.
